Meet your instructors

Our training videos feature experts in the Unified Protocol (UP), including Drs. Jackie Bullis and Clair Robbins, co-directors of the Unified Protocol Institute and co-authors of the treatment’s second edition. They provide deep clinical and academic insights into the UP. The videos also showcase therapists-in-training with strong UP backgrounds, demonstrating how the treatment can be adapted to individual therapist styles. This range of presenters illustrates the UP’s accessibility and effectiveness for clinicians at various experience levels.

Jacqueline R. Bullis, Ph.D.

Jacqueline R. Bullis, Ph.D., received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University under the mentorship of Dr. David Barlow. She is a licensed clinical psychologist at McLean Hospital and an Assistant Professor, Part-Time, in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. Her interests include how to increase access to evidence-based mental health care. In this capacity, she trains practitioners worldwide and works with organizations to develop impact-focused, scalable mental health solutions. She served as the clinical lead and research advisor for Mass General Brigham's implementation of digital behavioral health interventions in primary care, outpatient psychiatry, and employee assistance programs for seven years and currently directs a digital CBT clinic at McLean Hospital. Dr. Bullis has authored numerous publications on evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders and is a co-author of the Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders, an Oxford University Treatments That Work series.
Clair Robbins, Ph.D., Co-director of UPI

Clair Robbins, Ph.D.

Dr. Robbins received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University where she focused on the development and evaluation of the Unified Protocol (UP) under the mentorship of Dr. David Barlow. As part of her work, she specialized in the application of the UP to dysregulated anger. Dr. Robbins completed a predoctoral internship at the Durham VA and postdoctoral training at the Center for Misophonia and Emotion Regulation at Duke University Medical Center. She is a co-author of the UP and an expert national trainer. Dr. Robbins is a licensed clinical psychologist and currently works at Triangle Area Psychology Clinic in Durham, NC, where she provides clinical services to patients and trains therapists to deliver the UP. She has published numerous peer-review papers on the development, adaptation, and evaluation of transdiagnostic treatments. She is passionate about providing evidence-based treatments to patients and training providers to deliver these treatments.
Ariel Blakey, MA, Therapist

Ariel Blakey, MA

At the time of filming, Ariel Blakey was a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Boston University under the mentorship of Dr. Kristin Long. She received her B.A. in Psychology from Spelman College in 2019 and her M.A. in Psychology from Boston University in 2020. Ariel’s research interests center around optimizing psychosocial outcomes and improving access to equitable care for medically complex pediatric patients of underserved and marginalized backgrounds. She received training in the Unified Protocol through her doctoral clinical training at Boston University through the Psychological Services Center in the Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders. To date, Ariel has implemented the UP with a wide range of patients and presenting concerns.

Molly Becker, MS

At the time of filming, Molly Becker was a doctoral candidate in the Suffolk University Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program under the mentorship of Dr. Lance Swenson. She received her B.A in Psychology from Syracuse University in 2020 and her M.S. in Clinical Psychology from Suffolk University in 2022. Her clinical interests include third-wave CBT for the treatment of anxiety disorders and chronic illness, and reproductive health and trauma in marginalized women. She received training in the Unified Protocol throughout her practicum experience at Boston University’s Center for Anxiety and Related Disorders where she implemented it with a wide range of patients and presenting concerns.

Julián Moreno, MSc.

At the time of filming, Julián Moreno was a doctoral candidate in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. program at Boston University under the mentorship of Dr. Todd Farchione in the TREND-UP Lab. He received his B.S. in Psychology and Portuguese minor from Los Andes University in Bogotá, Colombia, in 2016, and his M.Sc. in Clinical and Health Psychology from Los Andes University in 2018. His research interests include the mechanisms of transdiagnostic CBT for emotional disorders and developing and improving evidence-based treatments in low- and middle-income countries. Prior to working in the TREND-UP Lab, he worked as an Assistant Professor at La Sabana University, Colombia, where he taught graduate courses in clinical psychology and was the clinical psychology lab manager at Los Andes University.
